FOUR men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Accrington.

Officers and the dog unit were called to Spencer Street in the town at around 3.20am on Friday, July 17.

A 23-year-old man, who suffered stab wounds to his chest and abdomen, is in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Three of the men have been released from police custody under investigation while the fourth, a 21-year-old, was bailed until August 14.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at around 3:20am Friday (July 17th) to the report of a stabbing at an address on Spencer Street, Accrington.

“A 23-year-old man had suffered stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a stable but serious condition.

“Officers located a 21-year-old man nearby. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

“Two men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested in the property, also on suspicion of attempted murder.

“A fourth man, 20, was later arrested at an address on Whalley Road in Accrington on suspicion of attempted murder."
