A PRIMARY school in Burnley has been given a boost by education watchdogs during a time of considerable change.
Classes at St Augustine's RC Primary, Lowerhouse Lane, have been swelled by the arrival of a number of traveller children in recent months.
But despite the upheavals and the poor attendance of a few pupils, inspectors from Ofsted decided that the school is performing strongly.
The school has received a good' rating, the second highest available. In summary, inspector Dave Byrne said in a report: "This is a good school which enjoys a good reputation among parents and strong links with the community.
"Pupils develop into responsible and thoughtful young people because of the school's excellent ethos of care."
Headteacher Anne Hardisty is also given praise for steering the school through "a challenging new phase" in its history.
