A POLICE dog pursued a suspect for over two miles through fields and a stream before locating a man hiding in some bushes.

PD Apol used his tracking skills when a suspect abandoned a stolen car overnight, trying to escape on foot.

And despite the length of time between the suspect fleeing the scene and the dog unit arriving, Apol soon indicated to his handler the direction in which he had gone.

A spokesman said: “Through the fields they went and along footpaths before reaching a stream. Trusting PD Apol his handler follows on through the waist high stream and continued through the fields until eventually Apol locates the suspect (wet from his river crossing) hiding in dense bushes after covering around two miles.”
