A MAN was knocked unconscious in the street and left with "significant" head injuries after a serious assault in Blackpool.
Police were sent to Lytham Road, close to the junction with Bournemouth Road just before 7pm yesterday, Saturday, where a man in his 40s was found unconscious.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Detectives are now working to establish the circumstances of how he came about his injuries and are appealing for anybody with details to come forward.
DC Matt Duffy, of West CID, said: “A man has received significant injuries and we are investigating how he came about them.
"I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed what happened to contact the police.
"I would also ask anybody with dashcam or CCTV footage covering the area in and around that time to get in touch as soon as possible.”
