A FURTHER 32 people have tested positive for the coronavirus across Blackburn, the latest figures released on Saturday afternoon show.
The 32 new cases come after Friday afternoon’s data revealed 31 people tested positive for COVID-19 over the previous 24-hour period, meaning over the last 48 hours, 63 new cases have been confirmed in the borough.
There are now a total of 1,169 confirmed cases across Blackburn with Darwen, meaning as many as 784.9 people per 100,000 are infected.
The next biggest rise came from another East Lancashire borough – Hyndburn – where eight new cases were reported. There are now 335 infections or 414.5 cases per 100,000 people.
Then it was Pendle, where another four cases were reported since yesterday afternoon’s figures, meaning 510 (558 per 100,000) have testing positive for the coronavirus.
There were three new cases in both Burnley and Rossendale, where at least 455 and 289 people are carrying the virus respectively.
No new cases were recorded in the Ribble Valley which currently has an infection rate of 326.4 per 100,000 people with a total of 196 cases.
Across the county of Lancashire as a whole, there are 9,037 cases of the deadly virus.
