This great photograph was taken inside the British Northrop Loom Company based in Little Harwood in the 1940s. At one time the company was one of the most important manufacturers of looms producing around 10,000 automatic looms a year which were sent all over the world. At its peak, the company employed around 2,700 people and developed a massive site in Blackburn.
