A man has been arrested on suspicion of serious assault after being caught by a police dog when he tried to run from the scene.
In the early hours of Friday morning, police officers, along with the dog unit attended an address in Blackburn after receiving calls about a serious assault.
The victim had to be given life-saving treatment by armed response officers while the suspect fled from the address.
An area search for the offender was carried out before the man was spotted and subsequently stopped by PD Zorro.
He was then arrested by officers.
A spokesperson for the police dog unit said: "In the early hours of this morning PD Zorro and handler have attended reports of a serious assault in the east of the county.
"Whilst the victim was receiving life saving treatment by armed response vehicle officers, PD Zorro started an area search for the offender who had fled the address.
"Within minutes a male was sighted running nearby, PD Zorro was deployed and quickly detained the suspect who was arrested.
"A great team effort by ARV, Team 4 Blackburn and Darwen Police and PD Zorro."
