BOFFINS of tomorrow from Burnley and Pendle have been given an insight into everything from X-rays to ultrasound during a field trip to a Lancashire university.
Students from Unity College, Sir John Thursby, Blessed Trinity, Marsden Heights, Burnley College, Burnley Schools Sixth Form and Nelson and Colne College took part in the physics seminar at Lancaster University.
For the first time the institution is offering degrees and masters degrees in medical physics and visitors were given demonstrations of the science behind MRI scans and ultrasound.
The pupils are all part of their respective schools' gifted and talented' programme.
