PRE-SCHOOL children are sending shoe boxes full of goodies to troops serving in Iraq this Christmas.
The children, aged between two and four, from Kitten's Pre-school Nursery, Veronica Street, Darwen, have decorated the boxes and filled them with gifts such as cards and sweets.
Ginny Taylor, from the nursery said: "We decided to do this because our manager's son went out to Iraq this week.
"Also, there's always lots on the news about the poor conditions the troops are living in.
"We have sat the children down and talked about how the soldiers won't be coming home for Christmas, and they are really enjoying doing the boxes."
Parents have been asked if they would like to contribute to the boxes or if they wish to donate £5 towards the cost.
The boxes are being collected on Wednesday then shipped out to Iraq in time for Christmas.
