EXPERTS said that a small earthquake occurred in Belthorn in the early hours of this morning.
According to the British Geological Survey, the earth shook at 12.40am.
The quake's magnitude was recorded as 1.3 at a depth of 8 kilometers, meaning that it is classified as a small earthquake.

On the Richter scale, an earthquake of that size is likely to be felt by some people, but is unlikely to cause damage to any buildings.
Geologists may reassess the quake after more tests are carried out.
