TWO brothers are bidding to conquer Africa's highest mountain to raise money for charity after their niece was born with cerebral palsy.
Rory Gallagher, 28, of St George's Avenue, Blackburn, and brother Kevin Gallagher, have already raised £4,000 of the £6,000 sponsorship needed to complete the six day trek on January 24 for Scope, a charity which supports people with cerebral palsy.
Both brothers are jogging daily to get in shape for the trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, which at 19,340 ft is snow capped with temperatures averaging -20C.
Rory, who works as a mechanic at Burnley's Motorpoint, said: "I got involved with this because my niece Chloe was born with cerebral palsy 18 months ago .
"I am generally quite fit but I have been training every day.
"We will have a fair amount of gear up the mountain as well as ourselves so it will be hard work."
