A SUSPECTED armed robber has appeared in court in Yorkshire after a high-profile arrest in Burnley on Saturday.
Aaron Anthony Williams, 22, was detained in the Burnley area and held at the Parker Lane police station.
He was later transferred to the custody of Humberside police for questioning over an alleged armed raid at the Nationwide Building Society at Pocklington, near York, in March, in which a police officer was seriously hurt.
Williams, of Salford, appeared before East Yorkshire Magistrates' Court at Beverley, charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.
Four other men from the Greater Manchester area have already appeared in court charged in connection with the Pocklington raid.
