POLICE were called to investigate two fires at an old people's home.
Firefighters were first called after curtains were set alight at Church View rest home, Church Street, Oswaldtwistle, on Saturday afternoon.
Two pensioners had to be evacuated from building by staff, who also put the fire out using extinguishers.
And at 7.45am yesterday the fire crews were called back after curtains in another room were set alight.
This time the blaze had spread to the radiator under the windows and had melted the plastic on a television set.
Nobody was hurt, but a box of matches found at the scene suggested it had been started deliberately.
Firefighters called the police, who interviewed staff and residents at the home. It is thought the fire could have been started by a resident.
A spokeswoman for the home said the matter was still being investigated.
