Haslingden residents may be interested in an interactive exhibition entitled "From Cooler Woodlands" at the nearby Whittaker Park Museum.
The exhibition featuring paintings, crafts and interactive (have a go) exhibits, traces the history of woodlands from the 17th Century to the present day.
"In 1600 there were extensive areas of oak ash and elm trees in Lancashire, used to create furniture and build houses. By 1900, much of the woodland had disappeared, being replaced by industrial development.
Lancashire's new 'woodland vision' aims to increase the amount of woodland, but with a given purpose. Properly managed, woodland can provide opportunities for leisure, wildlife habitats and a source for trades and creative industries".
The exhibition is touring the North West and will be at the museum until January 13th. Admission is free and for more information contact 01706 244682.
