A MOTORIST had to be cut free from a vehicle after a collision between two cars in Worsthorne.

Fire crews were called to the scene in Brownside Road at just after 5pm yesterday after a Vauxhall Corsa and a Renault clio collided.

The road was closed for about an hour while fire crews rescued the person trapped inside the Renault Clio using cutters and spreaders.

Another person managed to get free from the other vehicle before firefighters arrived.

The two people who had been cut free were placed on stretches and taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
