A HALFORDS autocentre has re-opened in East Lancashire after weeks of closure during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Blackburn shop has been re-opened with several measures in place to protect customers and staff from the virus, including social distancing measures and a range of PPE.

These measures include the introduction of a zero-contact policy, the team have stopped taking cash payments and use plastic wrap on steering wheels and gear levers on every repair and service job.

As an essential service provider, the Halfords Autocentre will re-open on 28th April to assist the local residents in Blackburn who rely on their cars for essential journeys at this time.

The reopening of the Blackburn Autocentre comes after the Government recently introduced a temporary MOT exemption but warned that vehicles must still be kept in a roadworthy condition.

Garages still remain open for essential repair work, while drivers can face prosecution if they’re caught driving an unsafe vehicle.

Andy Randall, MD of Halfords Autocentres says: “I am really proud of our colleagues in Blackburn and how they are supporting us in our commitment to playing our part in keeping the UK moving for their essential journeys.

“However, we will only continue to play our role if we can ensure the health and safety of our colleagues and customers, and compliance with government policy. That’s why we have re-shaped how our Autocentre in Blackburn operates and we look forward to welcoming customers from 28th April.”
