This video sent to us by one of our readers shows the absolute carnage that ensued on Monday after McDonald's announced they were closing all of their restaurants.
Fast food junkies were so desperate to get their hands on one last Big Mac, that they queued for the drive-thru along the full length of the dual carriageway close to the Whitebirk roundabout in Blackburn.
The video, which has been viewed more than 21,000 times and shared more than 600 times on social media was filmed by Lauren Metcalfe from Mellor, who was travelling to Blackburn with her sister.
Miss Metcalfe said: "I found it absolutely ridiculous.
"I honestly thought there had been an accident with the size of the queue.
"Then realised it was just for McDonald’s.
"It's absolutely insane.
"As if people were that desperate for a burger with a bit of plastic cheese on.
"I was actually in shock."
On Sunday, McDonald's announced it was closing every single one of its restaurants in the United Kingdom and Ireland from 7pm on Monday, following concerns about maintaining safe social distancing amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
And the chaos wasn't limited to Blackburn, as similar scenes were witnessed in Preston, London, Norfolk, Grimsby and Manchester.
