STRANDED walkers were saved by Bolton Mountain Rescue after a finding themselves in a hillside dilemma.
Rescuers were called to a couple injured at Darwen Tower earlier this week. A woman was hurt after she slipped in the mud, but when her husband tried to catch her, he injured himself in the process.
The rescue team rushed to the tower and discovered the stranded ramblers, giving them first aid on site. The pair were left with leg injuries. One patient had to be stretchered from the hill, while the other was transported down the hill in the mountain rescue van.
The incident was one of the team's first of 2020 after they rang in the New Year assisting the North West Ambulance Service as midnight struck.
