THE Brexit Party has named local businessman Rick Moore as its candidate for Blackburn in the next General Election.
He will take on sitting Labour MP Kate Hollern who had a majority of 20,368 in the 2017 poll.
Mr Moore, a 39-year-old constituency resident, is married with two daughters and runs a company specialising in providing assistive technology for disabled clients all over the country.
He said: “Blackburn has been ignored by Westminster, 54 per cent voted to leave the European Union and yet the Labour Party wants to tie us to the EU in perpetuity.
"Local issues have been badly neglected by the major parties and if elected I will work to make our town great again.
“Blackburn has a wonderful diverse community which deserves better and will be boosted by The Brexit Party’s £200 billion spending plan for the regions.
"This will be paid for by scrapping HS2, halving foreign aid and not paying the EU divorce bill and diverting money to local infrastructure projects.
“We will also be promoting local small businesses by introducing zero business rates on the high street for retailers.
"Cutting student loan interest will also help more young people from Blackburn access higher education.”
