LONG-SERVING Hyndburn councillor Munsif Dad will receive his British Empire Medal at Lancaster Castle next month.
He will be among seven recipients from Lancashire to be given their award on Friday October 11from lord-lieutenant of Lancashire Lord Shuttleworth in its Shire Hall.
The BEM rewards ‘hands-on’ service to the community.
Cllr Dad from Accrington received his award for political service in June’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Among the other BEM recipients are Karen Macaulay from Clitheroe for voluntary service to Lancashire Constabulary and Rebecca Ramsay from Chorley for services to the prevention of water related accidents.
Lord Shuttleworth, The Queen’s representative in the county whose family are the historic owners of Padiham’s Gawthorpe Hall, said: “I always feel humbled presenting national honours to people from Lancashire who have done so much for others.
“It is a privilege to make these presentations."
