A FATHER has made a desperate plea for his missing son to get in touch - after flying half way around the world to be near him.
Star student Daniel Palmer, 26, went missing last Friday night - not knowing that his father Andrew had flown from Cambodia especially to see him.
Daniel, a former Blackburn College student who won the Principal's Award for Endeavour while studying for a Btec in childcare, was last seen by two policeman who stopped to talk to him in Langho at around midnight.
He told them he was taking a walk to clear his head and has not been seen since.
His family are hoping Daniel, who lives in Wensley Road, Blackburn, with his mother Fiona, will get in touch now that his father has returned to the country.
Mr Palmer had left his voluntary work in Cambodia after hearing that Daniel had been experiencing some difficulties.
Family members have tried contacting Daniel, a nursery assistant at Fernhurst Nursery School, and are hoping that he will respond to emails.
Mr Palmer, who lives in Chorley, said: "I am very concerned about Daniel.
"It is not knowing where, or how, he is that is affecting us the most.
"We just want him to get in touch and let us know that he is okay, even if he doesn't want to come home just yet."
He added: "I came back from Cambodia because I was worried about him.
"Things had got a bit on top of him. I think he just needs a bit of time to think about things."
His mother Fiona also pleaded for Daniel to get in touch: "Daniel is gentle, caring home loving lad. His cat Amber is missing him."
Daniel is ft 2ins, slim with short, dark, brown hair.
