Shining with almost sepia glow, a tinge of the turning autumn leaf the Moon shone in all its glory above Darwen centre early Tuesday morning. Surface picked out in sharp focus, craters grey and dark illuminating the fabric of the night sky with a warm golden fireside glow ushering in autumn proper.

Framed perfectly with the town below as if waiting for an artist to put brush to canvass or a passing photographer awed by this wondrous, but simple sight. Or someone to be inspired.

Whilst the town below lay peaceful, nothing stirred. Blissfully silent. A moment of perfection amongst the noise of the world, clutter of daily life. One moment encapsulating how wonderful the world can be.

So it was from my vantage point, overlooking the town centre with this herald hung above, ushering in autumn and the clarity of crisper, colder nights was I inspired to make it my first report. So moving was this sight, so unexpected I was left breathless upon seeing the simply framed view through my window. Framed, patiently waiting to be seen.

Gradually, it began to set with gentle slowness, colours changing as clouds went wisp like across its face. Eventually turning to the colour of fallen embers as it faded from view behind Sunnyhurst. Rising somewhere else in the world as it faded below the horizon.

And with it the glorious sight and moment of inspiration. The wonder of it all.

Will that moment come again I wondered? And, oh, that colour. It was such a rare, blissful moment to escape into your own peaceful thoughts. Bringing warmth, a glow; everything perfect for a short while.

But whilst the world turned below, with all its cacophony of chaos, all its problems there was this one moment of peaceful serenity.

Times like these often remind us what beauty there is in the world be it in the celestial motions of the skies or down to Earth. And that, for a time, we can escape into our own private thoughts of peace and tranquility.

So, next time you are up and about late/early at night you may see this simple, but profound beautiful sight unfettered by the chaos of the world below and, maybe, it will inspire you too.

Beauty still exists in our world; we often just need to look up to see it. To remind us of what we do not take notice of. And how just the simplest of things can often move us very deeply. Inspire us. And shows us the promise of what could be.

If we just look up and see.
