TRICK-or-treat singers may not be the only people knocking on your door this Hallowe'en - you could be getting a visit from TV Licensing officials.
TV Licensing officers will be out in force in Lancashire, targeting the homes of those who are suspected to be watching TV without a licence.
Last Hallowe'en, around 1,600 licence fee dodgers were caught across the UK, 60per cent more than the typical daily average of around 1,000.
October 31 is targeted as people are used to trick-or-treaters, and are more likely to open their door.
There have been almost 2,500 evaders caught already this year, and TV Licensing officials will continue to be on the lookout as the winter nights draw in.
People found to be illegally watching TV risk a court appearance and a fine of up to £1,000.
Charlotte Hancock, TV Licensing spokesperson for the north of England, warned people they can expect an unwelcome visit if they flout the law.
She said: "This Hallowe'en, don't be afraid of things that go bump in the night.
"Make sure you've got a TV licence and you won't get an unwanted visit from a TV Licensing inquiry officer."
