THE Bishop of Blackburn has a new personal chaplain.
The Rt Rev Julian Henderson has appointed the Rev Sam Cheesman, 34, originally from Belfast in Northern Ireland, to the post as one of his key assistants.
He was a curate at All Saints in Anchorsholme near Blackpool.
The Rev Cheesman, a keen rugby fan, is married to Mairi with a daughter Lydia, seven.
They will live in Langho near the Bishop’s House in Salesbury.
He will run all aspects of the the Rt Rev Henderson’s office and ensure the smooth running of his diary.
The Rev Cheesman will begin his new role on August 12 and serve as a curate at Salesbury, St Peter.
He said: “I am delighted to be taking on this new role at an exciting time
“Being part of the Bishop’s leadership team as we collectively work towards making disciples, growing leaders and being witnesses for Jesus Christ is also a great privilege.”
The Rt Rev. Henderson said: “I am confident Sam will fit in well and make a significant contribution.”
The previous chaplain the Rev John Chitham was appointed Rector of Standon and the Mundens with Sacombe earlier this year.
