AN identical twin said to be suffering from Asperger's Syndrome was found guilty of flouting an interim anti-social behaviour order within four hours of it being imposed.

Katie Louise Lynch, 19, was convicted after a two day trial at Burnley Magistrates.

But her sister, Ashley Marie, recently living at Park Crescent, Bacup, was cleared of the same allegation and will now be allowed to return to the family home on Fairfield Avenue, Waterfoot, where the trouble took place.

Both girls, who had been ordered to live at different addresses since the incident on May 30, have been diagnosed as having Asperger's Syndrome, a form of autism, by a clinical psychologist.

Their solicitor, David Leach, told the hearing the condition manifested itself in conduct which people would normally perceive as anti-social.

The defendants denied breaching the interim ASBO. Katie Lynch will be now be seen by a psychiatrist before sentence, set for November 19.

The Lynch twins were said to have threatened to kill a 13-year-old neighbour and her dog and "drunken" Katie Lynch had climbed onto scaffolding on their house with a drink in her hand and had shouted she was going to throw herself off.

The girls had been given the interim ASBOs by Rossendale Magistrates earlier in the day.

Under the orders, they are banned from using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour likely to cause alarm, harassment or distress, from being drunk in public and from drinking alcohol in public.

Katie Lynch was bailed for pre-sentence and psychiatric reports after the bench said she had been a risk to herself and could have caused distress to others.

The justices, who said they were looking at a high level of supervision, asked for reports from the mental health services.

Lynch was ordered to live at Millar Barn Lane, Waterfoot, to observe a curfew between 8pm and 8am and is prohibited from going within 500 metres of Fairfield Avenue.
