A FLEDGLING rock band has chosen the rolling streets of Colne as the backdrop for their bid for chart glory.
International One, who have already enjoyed Radio One and Radio Two airplay, have chosen Colne as the moody backdrop to its first assault on the charts.
The Manchester indie outfit have even enlisted the support of East Lancashire actor Jody Latham, who lives in nearby Barnoldswick, for the video shoot.
Latham and lead singer Franco are featured driving through Colne in a white VW Golf for the group's first single, Moonshine and Roses.
And the band are seen performing throughout the four-and-a-half minute long song at the historic Pendle Hippodrome Theatre, in between stolen glimpses of Colne town centre.
Latham, who played Lip Gallagher in Channel 4's comedy drama Shameless, written by Burnley's Paul Abbott, is said to be a huge fan of International One and readily agreed to star in the promo alongside the band.
A spokesman for International One's record label, Modern English said that they had decided to set to video in Colne: "The recording studio is in Exchange Street in Colne, we were keen to set the film in Colne, it's a great place to shoot and hopefully it will bring some publicity to the area.
"The band loved shooting the film in the town and it was handy for Jody as he's a local lad.
"Jody is a big fan of the band, he has been to see them play a few times and loves their music, he asked if he could be in the next video and we jumped at the chance.
"We shoot the video on three seperate occasions starting last January.
"The majority of the filming took place at the Hippodrome which is a lovely old building, we then took cars around Colne and filmed shoots throughout the town."
XFM Manchester DJ Clint Boon has already made Moonshine and Roses, described as a cross between Simon and Garfunkel and The Stone Roses, his single of the week.
And the band was celebrating again last week as Radio One's Zane Lowe and Radio Two's Steve Lamacq played the release on national radio.
The band is next due to play an XFM session with Clint Boon in November, sandwiched in between gigs at the Sankeys and Night & Day venues in Manchester.
The Moonshine video is already said to be gaining a number of plays across indie and rock music TV channels including MTV2.
Modern English are now looking for more local talent to sign up or record in their studio, for more information contact info@modern-english.co.uk or via the website below.
