SEXUAL and violent offenders are being prevented from re-offending by teamwork from the police, probation and prison services.
In the 12 months to March in Lancashire, 216 high risk offenders convicted of violent or sexual crime have been subject to monitoring through multi-agency public protection arrangements (MAPPA).
During that period, none of those offenders went on to commit a serious further offence.
Multi-agency public protection arrangements implement tough controls such as curfews and electronic monitoring, as well as assisting with employment and accommodation for offenders settling into communities.
