Police who stopped two men walking down a Darwen street at 1.15am found they were both carrying knives.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Andrew Edward Dodds had a "short-handled bush dagger", an instrument which was held in such a way that the blade protruded from the knuckles.
Dodds, 20, of Police Street, admitted having an offensive weapon in a public place.
He was made subject to community supervision for six months.
