PUPILS from Pendle Vale College have been taking part in a citizenship education programme.
For the past five weeks, Year 10 pupils have been preparing to have a formal debate on the motion One Man's Freedom Fighter is Another Man's Terrorist'.
Pupils have been researching case studies on Martin Luther King, Osama Bin Laden, Nelson Mandela and Martin McGuiness as part of the programme, produced by Building Bridges Pendle.
One of the aims of the debate programme is to encourage pupils to positively engage in dialogue on difficult issues and on how to challenge each other's views in a safe and controlled environment.
The debate was in the council chambers at Nelson Town Hall. Salim Jogi, of Building Bridges Pendle, said: "This class of pupils have learnt how to express their points of view and challenge opinions which they do not agree with."
