Firefighters are currently tackling a blaze at Red Scar Industrial Estate in Longridge.
Six fire engines, including the Stinger from Blackburn and the drone, have attended the incident, which is believed to involve rubbish at a recycling centre.
Crews were called at 4.52am and on arrival found recyclable waste in an open, covered unit measuring approximately 25m by 25m.
Posting on Twitter at around 6.30am, Chris Rainford from LFRS said: "In attendance at a fire at Red Scar Industrial Estate early this morning.
"The incident is now fully under control but smoke is still slightly affecting the M6 motorway.
"Take care if driving past.
"Crews are still in attendance but the incident is being scaled down over the next few hours."
Four firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the fire using one jet assisted by the stinger fire engine.
