MEET Buttercup the cow - famous for swimming the full length of a canal tunnel.
Incredibly, the animal made it all the way through the canal's Mile Tunnel at Foulridge under her own steam in September 1912.
Owned by Robin Brown, of Blue Slate Farm, Colne, the cow plunged into the cut at the Barrowford end of the tunnel.
Unable to get out, she swam its entire length to Foulridge where she was pulled out.
According to local legend, she was revived with the better part of a bottle of brandy.
