SCHOOLCHILDREN have said a big thank you' to a town's new superstore for saving their ICT suite.
PC World, which has just opened a store at Prestige Works, Burnley, stepped in to help Hapton Primary School replenish its ICT suite after 12 monitors crashed after the summer break.
School governors Mel Smith and Clare Mayor, who have children at the school, were so concerned that the 88 pupils had to share the monitors and had to suspend a Wallace and Gromit-style animation project, that they persuaded the company to cut them a great deal.
Headteacher Kate Marney said: "We're only a small school and don't have a massive budget, so when the 12 monitors crashed all at the same time, we were really struggling.
"I didn't think we stood a chance when Mel and Clare went to the shop, but they were really good. They provided 15 high-specification monitors for £59 each when the real retail cost is £130. That meant we could replace all the faulty monitors and more."
