POLICE have issued advice to motorists over Darwen's new road system.
After some confusion among shoppers, Sgt Mark Thackery-Scott said motorists could access the shops along Duckworth Street.
But drivers travelling from Blackburn cannot pass through Market Street and The Circus to reach Bolton Road as there are new no-entry and restricted access signs.
Those caught disregarding Darwen's new £1.4m road layout will be fined.
Motorists should be driving around the town centre on Bury Street and Green Street for routes to Bolton or Blackburn.
They can also turn into Duckworth Street from Bury Street to do shopping in the town centre.
