St Christopher's High School celebrated 'a fabulous year' at its speech night last night.
The Accrington school has had record GCSE results, an outstanding Ofsted report and was named as one of the top 30 schools in the country in a Sunday Times survey.
Headteacher Alistair Coates led the ceremony at the Queen's Road West school, by paying tribute to the returning year 11 students who chalked up an 85per cent GCSE pass rate, with nearly a quarter of all grades A or A*.
Mr Coates said: "It has been a fabulous year for St Christopher's, but not just because of excellent exam-ination results. From Ofsted to our programme of activities, a whole community has worked together hard and is reaping the rewards of feeling fulfiled and successful. We may be - we are - setting our sights on even greater things, because we will never be complacent, but this evening is the time to thank all those who have made it happen."
