TOWN hall chiefs were left red faced after a council's automatic Twitter feed warned voters they only had an hour left to vote - a day too soon.
Blackburn with Darwen Council's official Twitter feed posted the warning at 9pm on Wednesday - voting opens on Thursday morning.
The post also wrongly spelled the word 'election' in the hashtag #LocalElectons.
It is thought the tweet was sent using software allowing organisations to time social media posts in advance.
Twitter users were quick to point out the council's error.
Suhail Patel tweeted: "Someone's had a few too many tonight!"
Bobby Michel added: "Just rushed out but my polling station is all locked up."
