THE manager of Accrington Snooker Club has appeared before magistrates and denied fire safety offences brought by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
Zafar Aslam, of Claret Street, Accrington, entered not guilty pleas to a total of eight breaches of fire regulations which presented the risk of death or serious harm to users of the Abby Street club.
The summonses allege that no fire risk assessment had been carried out, fire alarm systems were not properly tested and maintained, fire fighting equipment was not properly tested or maintained, combustible material was stored on a landing forming part of a fire escape, two offences of failing to provide adequate fire doors of escape routes, no records of testing fire alarms and lights and failure to provide adequate safety training for staff.
The allegations were adjo-urned for trial on January 28.
