TWO Ramadan fasting challengers are searching for sponsors.
Founder of Blackburn's Secret Santa Ltd Phil Boulding and Darren Pilkington, Blackburn's Ivy Street Community Centre manager, will be taking part in the five-day challenge next month
They will not be eating, drinking or smoking during sunlight hours for five days next month with Ramadan starting on Sunday, May 5. The two men want to raise funds to purchase gifts for disadvantaged Muslim children across the borough of Blackburn and Darwen.
Phil said:“This year for the first time Secret Santa will be providing gifts for disadvantaged Muslim children to open at Eid.
"This is because we wanted to return the favour to all of the Muslims that both helped us pack our Sacks with presents for Christmas and to the Muslim businesses that supported our Christmas activities.
Darren added: "It’s the smoking that worries me most about the challenge, not having a cigarette for 15 hours each day is going to have me climbing the walls, but if ever there was a good cause to drive me to make this change then our 5-day Ramadan Fast challenge is it."
