Councillors have recommended investment in a new public square for Burnley's giant Weaver's Triangle development, as part of efforts to promote the new Pennine Lancashire' brand.
Regeneration agency Elevate has submitted a £3.6million bid to the Northwest Development Agency for a series of six public squares across East Lancashire.
Burnley Council's economic scrutiny committee has recommended a square be created at Sandygate as part of the massive redevelopment planned there.
