A TOWN’s swimming pool will reopen on Saturday after six months of repairs.
The pool at Great Harwood’s Mercer Hall Leisure Centre because of leaks.
During the closure swimmers could use Hyndburn Leisure Centre instead.
To celebrate the reopening of the Mercer Hall pool, the leisure centre on Queen Street is holding an open day on Saturday between 10am and 2pm.
The repair work included fixing leaks under the floor of the swimming area and the removal of asbestos.
The open day will include free taster sessions in the Ladies Only Feelgood Suite, as well as tours of the whole centre including the thermal suite. The Learn to Swim Team will also be holding talks on the programme of swimming lessons.
Lyndsey Sims, chief executive of Hyndburn Leisure said, “We are asking the residents of Great Harwood to come out in force and support their local leisure centre.
“We believe Mercer Hall is a hidden gem.
“Tucked away in a beautiful town hall style building is a state of the art gym, ladies only feelgood suite, thermal suite, swimming pool and studio where we operate many fitness classes. If you’ve never been to the centre, or you’d like to see the changes we’ve made, I’d urge you to visit us this Saturday.”
