A YOUNG dad who stole and crashed a friend's relative's car later walked into a police station and owned up.
Burnley magistrates heard banned driver Lee Foster's victim knew nothing about the escapade at the time.
Foster, 19, of no fixed address, but from Burnley, admitted aggravated vehicle taking, driving whilst disqualified and no insurance on September 23.
The defendant, who has 35 previous convictions, some for driving whilst banned, was sent to jail for 90 days.
Stephen Parker, prosecuting, told the court the victim left his car parked on a drive in Burnley whilst he went on holiday.
Meanwhile, Foster had taken the car keys, driven off, hit a kerb and abandoned the vehicle.
Sue Robinson, defending, said the vehicle had been driven a relatively short distance around Burnley town centre in the early hours.
