TWO women who approached a man in the street and asked for a light saw he was carrying a knife.
Hyndburn magistrates heard that Lee Norman Newbury was abusive to the women who fled to a nearby pub and called the police.
But the court was told Newbury could remember little of the incident because shortly before he had head-butted a door in temper.
Newbury, 29, of Bolton Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
A charge of affray was withdrawn.
Philippa White, prosecuting, said the women were able to keep watch on Newbury after they fled into the Griffin pub and as the police arrived they saw him put the knife into the ground.
Graham Parkinson, defending, said his client remembered little about the incident but had pieced things together with the help of his girlfriend.
They had argued before the incident and he had left the home to calm down.
