A CHARITY dog walk will see people with their furry friends take a long walk on Easter Sunday.
The Park Great Harwood, a restaurant and bar signed up to East Lancashire's Corporate Challenge last year. The challenge was for local businesses to raise as much money as possible before the end of the year.
After meeting at 9am, the group will be treated to a sandwich and a coffee, before deciding on where to walk for the day. The group can walk up to five miles, and always make sure they have breaks for the dogs and themselves.
Darina Currie, owner of the restaurant, said: "We have joined the East Lancashire Hospice Corporate Challenge last year which meant that we had 6 months to raise as much money as possible along with 25 other local businesses.
One of the ideas was a charity dog walk. We started meeting up once a month at the pub at 9am on Sunday. We provide free bacon butties and coffee or tea and the customers pay £5 per dog which goes directly to the Hospice.
Its grown from strength to strength in both numbers and the fact that the community gets to meet up and chat to people that they may normally not do. It brings people out and we now even have people who don't have a dog coming along and paying the fee to charity for the social side.
We love doing it as we raise money for a great cause and it also is a fantastic social event."
