A DRUNKEN man who took part in a pub attack in which the victim suffered serious injuries has been spared jail.
Burnley Crown Court heard how Liam Groszewski, 22, did not cause the harm to victim Richard Thorpe and did not foresee how the scuffle would end up.
The defendant, who had never been in trouble before, was told by Judge Norman Wright he had joined in spontaneously and his conduct had been out of character.
Groszewski, of Oakbank Drive, Accrington, had admitted affray. He was given 33 weeks in jail, suspended for two years, with 200 hours unpaid work and an eight week curfew, between 9.30pm and 7am.
He must also pay £750 compensation and £414 costs.
