A TEENAGER who was diagnosed with testicular cancer 15 months ago has been given the all-clear.
David McLoughlin, 18, is now preparing to celebrate with his family, whose support he says have helped his speedy recovery.
David found a lump on his left testicle last April, but didn't go to the doctor for three months.
He was diagnosed with testicular cancer in August, aged 17, and had an operation to remove his left testicle a month later.
He then developed a secondary cancer in his abdomen and had an operation to remove it in February, which was a complete success.
David was brought up in Langdale Close, Huncoat, and Queen's Street, Clayton-le-Moors, and is a former pupil at Moorhead High School, Accrington. He moved to Torquay in 2004 with his mum and brother.
He said: "I wish I had gone earlier. If I had gone I would probably not have got the secondary cancer in my abdomen.
"My advice to young men is if you notice even the tiniest bump get it checked out."
He said: "I'd like to thank my family for always being here and what they've been through.
"I'd also like to thank all the staff who have helped me get through cancer.
"Blackburn Rovers have also been fanastic, especially Mark Hughes.
"For my 18th they invited me to Brockholes and I got a signed shirt.
"It was well wicked and I'm having it framed."
David's mum Tina McCarthy, 38, who gave up her job as a support assistant to look after David, said: "He's completely changed now."
