ONE OF the most colourful figures from the world of politics, Tony Benn, is coming to Burnley Mechanics tomorrow night.

And if you're partial to a spot of folk music, you're in luck, because the show includes that too.

The Writing on the Wall is a witty, perceptive and thought-provoking two-man show of songs and stories featuring hugely popular folk singer Roy Bailey and retired MP Tony Benn.

Tony tells stories of public resistance to the political will dating back to the earliest days of British democracy, while Roy and his guitar punctuate the show with musical illustrations from his unique repertoire of songs.

This critically acclaimed show developed from Tony's writings for his book of the same name and Roy's four decades as a folk singer of renown.

They have performed at the Celtic Connections festival in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, the Hay on Wye Literary Festival, the Purcell Rooms on the South Bank and received a standing ovation from 8,000 people at the 2000 Cambridge Folk Festival.

They also won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Live Act in 2003.
