A drunken teenager took his anger out on parked cars after losing his job and being dumped by his girlfriend.

Blackburn magistrates heard that alcohol was also a factor when Christopher Gregory assaulted a 15-year-old girl who was camping out with friends in her back garden.

Gregory, 18, of Pilmuir Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal damage and one of assault and asked for two offences of criminal damage to be taken into consideration.

The magistrates adjourned the assault charge for the preparation of a pre-sentence report but ordered Gregory to pay the full amount of £767 compensation as punishment for the criminal damage offences.

Scott Ainge, prosecuting, said Gregory told police he had felt very sad and angry having been sacked and then being dumped by his girlfriend.

Mr Ainge said the damage done to one of the vehicles amounted to £467.

He said the assault on the girl took place at 1.30am when Gregory turned up with one of her friends.

Mr Ainge said the girl started crying and went into the house.

Basharat Ditta, defending, said his client fully accepted his behaviour was wrong.
