A LITTLE girl who was critically ill after a collision with a motorbike has defied the odds and come home in time for Eid.
Aisha Rasool, three, suffered a broken skull and suspected brain damage after being "flipped" into the air when she was hit by a motorcycle in August in Midgley Street, Colne.
Her parents Rubiana and Asif Rasool, of Lune Street, Colne, have described her recovery as a miracle' after doctors feared she might die.
They had been at the her bedside in the intensive care unit at Manchester Children's Hospital since the accident.
Aisha, who has two sisters, Zahrah, five, and Ayzah, seven, was released from hospital on Monday, after being allowed home for weekends to see how she coped.
Her father, Asif, said: "Her recovery has been a miracle.
"When she was first taken into hospital she had been heavily sedated and her condition was critical, we thought she might not make it to see Eid.
"Doctors said it would take her six to 12 months to recover and she has come home in two months.
"At first she had lost her memory and could only remember who her mother was. Doctors said she would have to be re-learn how to talk, eat and walk, she would be just like a new born baby.
"But her memory came back really quickly and she has made such a fantastic recovery.
"Her sisters were really quiet after the accident and are really pleased that she is home and well.
"We are having a big family party on Saturday as a double celebration for Aisha coming home and Eid."
Aisha has regained her movement but her parents are still worried about long term damage.
Asif said: "She seems like she is back to normal but only time will tell if she has suffered any brain damage.
"The whole thing has been a nightmare, but it has made us really appreciate her and her sisters.
"We have been really worried about letting the girls out of our sight since the accident."
Aisha was in collision with the motorcycle on Midgeley Street. The motorcyclist did not stop after the collision.
Police arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with the incident after he handed himself in at Colne police station. He was questioned and released on bail pending further enquiries.
