A MOTHER-of-three who lobbed a bottle into the face of a bricklayer, slicing his eyelid, has been spared a jail sentence.
But Judge Andrew Woolman has placed Cherelle Brown on a 12-week curfew so she “isn’t out all night drinking” in future.
Brown, 27, was facing sentence at Preston Crown Court after pleading guilt to unlawfully wounding Samuel Litherland in an incident at the former Switch nightclub in Blackburn on May 28.
Bad blood had existed between the pair after she had a child with one of his apprentices, the court was told at a previous hearing.
Prosecutor Peter Barr said that after studying CCTV footage of the matter, it was apparent that, after spotting Mr Litherland at the club Brown, who had two bottles in her hand, flicked the contents of one towards him.
She then started to punch him before being escorted away by a bouncer, he added.
But when this happened she “lobbed” one of the bottles at Mr Litherland, from a distance of around six feet, and it hit him in the face, before hitting a nearby wall.
Brown, of Park Lee Road, Blackburn, was given an 18-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
She must also observe a 12-week curfew, between 10pm and 6am, undertake 40 days of rehabilitation activity requirements and perform 150 hours community service.
Passing sentence, Judge Woolman said: “It might have been worse - you might have taken his eye out.”
Giving evidence on a previous occasion, Mr Litherland said his eye was full of blood, as a result of the attack.
He will also require plastic surgery after losing a portion of his lower left eyelid, the court heard.
Mark Stuart, defending, said there may have been some provocation on the part of Mr Litherland but his client accepted she had over-reacted. Brown, who had a number of convictions as a juvenile, had not been in trouble since becoming a mother, he added.
