A FAMILY has asked for mourners to wear "bright and colourful" clothing to the funeral of a 13-year-old girl who died last week.
Keen footballer Rebecca Duxbury, known to her friends as Becky, was found dead at her home last Wednesday.
The Darwen Vale High School pupil played for Darwen Ladies under 14s team as well as her school.
Now her family, dad Ray, mum Vanessa and brothers Scott, 12, and Josh, five, have asked mourners to wear bright colours as a tribute to Rebecca.
The funeral takes place tomorrow at St Aidan's Church, St Aidan's Avenue, Mill Hill, Blackburn.
The family has also requested that any donations be made to Rebecca's school.
A statement from the family said: "We are completely devastated at the loss of our beautiful daughter and can't begin to imagine what life will be like without her."
On Saturday Rebecca's team mates at Darwen Ladies took to the field wearing black arm bands.
Team manager Nigel Ramsden said he had lost "the heart and soul of his team".
Headteacher at Darwen Vale, Lynn Dunning, said staff and pupils were now planning the best way to remember her, which could be in the form of a permanent memorial.
She said: "This has come as a big shock to pupils and staff at our school, especially Rebecca's close friends, who have been offered support.
"Rebecca was a very popular pupil and was doing well in school.
"She took an active part in school life and did many activities, especially sport where she excelled in football.
"Our thoughts are with Rebecca's family and friends at this sad time."
Tests are still to determine the cause of Becky's death.
