A 55-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after a serious road traffic accident.
Police said a 22-year-old man from Chorley was reversing his works van when it was in collision with a 55-year-old pedestrian from Wigan.
The 55-year-old man was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the white Volkswagen Transporter van was not injured.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened in Mill Lane near to the junction with Widdows Street, Leigh yesterday at 2pm.
